Ghaziabad DM serves notice to Vasundhara DPS
Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad District Magistrate (DM) Nidhi Kesarwani on Tuesday served notice to Delhi Public School (Vasundhara), which expelled a class 8 student reportedly because her father moved the court against “arbitrary” fee hike by the school.
“I have issued notice to the school to explain why the student has been expelled? I have been told that there is a dispute between the parents and the school. Parents have submitted a complaint. Let the school furnish its answer only then further action would be taken,” said the DM.
Neeraj Bhatnagar, father of the student, said the school is violating all norms and rules of Right to Education Act 2009 which clearly states that students between the age of 6 to 14 cannot be restrained from continuing their education. But the school has expelled the student in mid-session which will hamper her education at least for a year.
He said the school expelled his daughter because he filed a petition in Allahabad High Court against an “arbitrary” fee hike by the school.
School principal Dharmendra Goel could not be contacted for comments despite repeated phone calls on his mobile phone.
Earlier, Ananya Bhatnagar, a class 8 student, was on Friday handed over her Transfer Certificate and asked to leave the school. The school management could not be contacted on Saturday and Sunday, but when Ananya went to the school on Monday, she was stopped at the main gate.
