Delhi Police initiative on skilling inaugurated

New Delhi, Aug 29 (IANS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday inaugurated ‘Yuva’, a Delhi Police initiative for skill development among the youth, as part of its community policing.

Delhi Police has tied up with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to provide the job-linked skilling for selected youths.

Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said the youths trained under ‘Yuva’ programme would be the brand ambassadors of Delhi Police and set example for other states to follow.

Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik said that 2,269 candidates had been selected for training in 45 fields in three months by 36 training partners.

“From street crime to skill training. Our long-term strategy to mainstream errant youths. Proud moment for Delhi Police to launch Project Yuva,” Patnaik said in a tweet.

NSDC will be providing training to selected youths under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY).

Currently, eight training centres have started in different districts in Delhi and 32 police station buildings identified where skill development centres would be opened soon.

Special Commissioner of Police Sanjay Baniwal said NSDC and CII would hand out skill certificates to all participants on completion of the course and also help the youths get jobs under the PMKVY scheme.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
