Kohli-Dhawan revenge next on cards!

Sydney: Indian Test captain Virat Kohli is all set to make his presence felt in the cricketing arena by axing some of the players from taking part in the fourth and the final Test match against Australia. As per the sources Dhawan and middle order batsman Pujara might be rested in the final Test match.

The 26-year-old Kohli is wasting no time in marking out his territory, with opener Dhawan and middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara expected to be dropped for the fourth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), reports heraldsun.com.au.

The Indians are set to go into the dead rubber with a new-look batting order that promotes Rohit Sharma to number three and sends Lokesh Rahul out to open with Murali Vijay.

But the talking point is Dhawan, who was also criticised for not going out to bat in the second Test’s fourth morning, leaving Kohli exposed to the field of play without much preparation.

Dhawan was hit on hand in the batting practice before play, and made a last-minute decision not to resume his innings. Kohli departed cheaply and reportedly fired up at Dhawan when he returned to the sheds.

The left-hander then went out to bat and made 81 which indicated his injury was not that serious.

Departed captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had also admitted at the time that there was unrest in the Indian dressing room.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
