Ex-President launches ‘Pranab Sir ki Pathsahala’

New Delhi/Jalandhar, Jan 31 (IANS) Former President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday launched ‘Pranab Sir ki Pathsahala’, an initiative to stay connected with the students and answer questions of the inquisitive youth.

During his first ‘pathshala’ (class) with students from the Jalandhar-based Lovely Professional University (LPU), Mukherjee answered questions related to reservation, equality and his vision of future India.

He exhorted all segments of the Indian society to converge their relevant efforts to make India inclusive, innovative and responsive to the aspirations of common people.

Mukherjee also gave away cash awards worth Rs 1 crore in the form of teaching grants to schools, coaching centres, and appreciation awards to teachers, mentors and students.

“This innovative approach in the realms of education will certainly foster a supportive ecosystem in the propagation of quality education in the country.

“I feel these awards have now become a national celebration of creativity and innovation at and for grassroots,” Mukherjee said.

Lovely Group Chairman Ramesh Mittal said: “Schools, in conjunction with teachers, make both unique and profound impacts on students’ lives by launching many of them into successful careers of vast potential futures.

“To acknowledge the dedicated efforts of such best teachers and their schools, LPU, as its Corporate Social Responsibility, launched the ‘Transforming Education Awards’.”

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
