New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS) BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday said that the party became much stronger due to way Prime Minister Narendra Modi worked and the benefits to the people after its victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and appealed to party workers to strengthen it further.

Addressing a gathering of party workers on the occasion of the inauguration of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s new headquarters at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg here, he also said that by next one year, 635 among total 695 districts of the country would have a party office on its liness.

“In 2014, people expressed their confidence in Modiji by electing a government with full majority. After that, the way Modiji ran the country and the way it’s (government’s) fragrance reached to the people, the party became much stronger,” Shah said in presence of Modi, several Union Ministers and former BJP Presidents including veterans L. K. Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi.

He added that the party organisation also worked hard to spread the government’s message among masses.

“Modiji ki jo lokpriyata hai… Modiji k liye logo ke man me jo bhav hai…use asthaitava dene ka kaam party ke karyakartavo ne kiya hai…isi ke karan aaj 19 rajya me ya to humare CMs hain… (Modi has a popularity… a certain stature in the people’s minds.. party workers have helped to give it a status, that is why we have Chief Ministers in 19 states),” Shah said.

Recalling the sacrifices of the party leaders, he said that the party cadres need to achieve new heights in coming days.

“We need to see ahead. Modiji has given us a call of new India. Political parties may be in the fray for winning elections and forming governments but for BJP, merely winning elections is not the limit. The Prime Minister has set a target of new India before us. I belive all the party workers would work in this direction,” he said.

The BJP chief said in a year all the district headquarters of the BJP would be constructed and will get connected with the central office.

“We had decided to construct our party offices in 635 districts out of total 694. Among 635, the work of land acquisition has been completed in 315 districts while process of land acquisition is in progress in 125 districts. 192 district offices are ready while 100 are on the verge of completion,” he said.
