NCW visits LSR college after liquid-filled balloon thrown at student
New Delhi, March 1 (IANS) Taking note of an incident wherein a DU student was hit by a liquid-filled balloon, a National Commission Women (NCW) team visited Lady Sri Ram (LSR) College here and met with Principal and others to take stock of the situation.
“The NCW took suo motu cognisance and sent a two-member team to the LSR to meet the student as well as faculty. We also took police along,” NCW Acting Chairperson Rekha Sharma said on Thursday.
The NCW said the team interacted with the Principal, faculty members, and student representatives, apart from holding consultations with the SHO concerned.
However, the female student who underwent the ordeal refused to meet the team.
“Based on the interactions and after assessing concerns of the students, the NCW team suggested for increased police patrolling in the area. The phone numbers of beat Constables were also shared with college authorities to enable female students to contact them whenever needed,” the commission said.
In an Instagram posting on February 24, an LSR College student said a balloon filled with a liquid was thrown at her in Amar Colony market in Lajpat Nagar and it left white marks on her black leggings as it dried.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon
Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.
Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.
CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS
The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.
COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.
The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
