Haryana recommended CBI probe into land acquisitions, CM tells Assembly
Chandigarh, March 13 (IANS) The Haryana government has recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities committed during the previous Congress rule vis-a-vis land acquisition in Rohtak and Sonipat districts, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told the Assembly on Tuesday.
Speaking during Zero Hour in the Budget Session of the Assembly here, he said the opposition Congress had no right to talk about the plight of farmers.
“They themselves acquired land of farmers to benefit some builders,” he alleged.
Khattar said the state had already handed over to the CBI investigation into three cases related to re-allotment of a plot to Associated Journals Ltd in Panchkula near here, an industrial plot in Panchkula, and the Manesar land case.
The Supreme Court had set aside the land acquisition process executed by the previous Congress government in Manesar.
The then government had threatened innocent farmers and extended huge benefits to real estate developers and builders in the name of land acquisition during its rule, Khattar said.
The court has termed such activities as mala fide exercise of powers and a clear case of misuse of power. Apart from this, the apex court has also ordered for investigation into the role of middlemen in land acquisition.
The Chief Minister said the apex court had also ordered that a decision on the Dhingra Commission report, which went into the grant of land licences to some companies, be announced within two months.
Regarding opposition Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) charges on irregularities during the Congress rule in Haryana, he said its documents run into 290 pages and action was being taken on every issue after proper investigation.
“We do not take action against anyone due to revenge or malice. All actions and decisions are taken only after investigation,” the Chief Minister added.
