Volvo XC40 India to be launched in June 2018
Volvo India is planning to launch their entry-level XC40 SUV in the country soon. Volvo India currently sells the XC60 and the XC90 in their SUV portfolio. The Swedish brand expects high sales figures for their upcoming product.
To be offered in the R-Design trim only, Volvo XC40 will be the company’s smallest SUV. It will be positioned on a Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform and will be more economically priced as Volvo India wishes to target a young customer base.
The Volvo XC40 will be offered with two engine choices: 190bhp 2.0-litre diesel (D4) and 245bhp 2.0-litre petrol (T5). The engines will come mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Volvo XC40 which will come in as a CBU will be seen in three color options of red with a black top, blue and black with a white top. It will get an upright front grille, Thor-Hammer LED headlamps, short overhangs and 18” 5 spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, a raked windshield is noted with integrated roof spoiler, twin chrome exhausts and L shaped LED tail lamps.
Its all black interiors receive standard features such as wireless mobile phone charging point, heated front and rear seats, 750W 12 speaker Harmon Kardon sound system and Volvo’s 9.0” portrait oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
When launched, the Volvo XC40 will rival the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. The pricing is expected to be in the range 35 – 40 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
Volvo is one of the most underrated brands in India. The amount of quality and attention to detail that comes with a Volvo product, cannot be matched by most brands. Volvo models are also popular for the safety levels they meet.
