Kejriwal’s sit-in trick to divert attention from real issues: BJP
New Delhi, June 12 (IANS) The BJP on Tuesday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over his overnight stay at the Lt. Governor’s office as a planned trick to divert people’s attention from the real issues like the poor condition of government hospitals and acute water shortage in the city.
It also said that the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs and MLAs would go to the Chief Minister’s residence demanding a solution to the water and electricity crises in Delhi.
Addressing the media here, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said: “Kejriwal and his ministers (Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, PWD and Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Labour Minister Gopal Rai) are sitting in an air-conditioned room with their feet on the table.”
“Is it called a protest?” Tiwari asked.
Tiwari’s remarks came after the four Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders went to the LG’s office on Monday evening at 5.30 p.m to press for their three demands, including a direction to IAS officers to end their “strike”, and continue to be there “until the demands are met”.
The Chief Minister also demanded approval of his government’s proposal to deliver ration to the poor at their doorsteps.
In a statement late on Monday, Raj Niwas had called the sit-in a “protest without reason”.
Hitting out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Tiwari said: “At a time when the people of Delhi are facing acute water shortage, when people are dying in Mohalla Clinics and complaining about poor services at government hospitals, Kejriwal and his ministers are under a planned conspiracy seeking full statehood to Delhi.”
“It is Kejriwal who needs to ensure proper water supply as he is the incharge of the Water Ministry of the Delhi government.
“Kejriwal has no interest in the problems of the people of Delhi,” he said.
Slamming Kejriwal, the BJP MP from northeast Delhi said: “He had done a similar dharna in 2014 to stall the Republic Day parade. With his threat to stop the Republic Day celebrations, it became clear that he has no faith in the Constitution of the country.”
Firing salvos at Kejriwal, the BJP leader asked: “Did Kejriwal implement Lokpal in Delhi? He will not implement it, as he fears that they would be its first victim.”
“We shall protest against Kejriwal at his residence on Wednesday morning over the water crisis and poor health services in Delhi,” Tiwari said.
Earlier in the day, Tiwari in a tweet said: “Making mockery of Democracy, No Work only Drama.”
