Implement ePOS syetem in Delhi for distribution of ration: BJP
New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS) The BJP on Thursday warned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi to implement ePOS syetem (electronic point of sale) for the distribution of ration or else it would initiate a campaign in the national capital to expose the the ration mafias.
The BJP also accused the Arvind Kejriwal government of being involved in the ration scam going on for the last three years in Delhi.
Addressing a press conference, Delhi BJP President Manoj TIwari said, “On the one hand ration scam of about Rs 3,000 crore was committed during the last three years and, on the other, the poor people are running from pillar to post to get ration cards.”
“Prime Minister Narender Modi brought transparency in the distribution of ration. In view of the concerns expressed by Supreme Court for protecting the interest of the poor, the Central Consumer Affairs and Food Supply Department started the system of ePoS in the country for the distribution of ration in cooperation with all the state governments from the beginning of the year 2018,” The BJP leader said.
He said that under this programme in March 2018, Delhi government informed the Centre that all the 2,254 ration shops and 98 per cent of the registered consumers of Delhi have been verified and integrated through ePoS system.
“But the AAP government on April 25, cancelled the ePoS system in Delhi, which is a clear proof that it is protecting the ration mafia,” he alleged.
He also said that Kejriwal government’s plea that the all the people do not have Aadhaar card is not sound because it has been clearly stated in the system of the central government that for distribution of ration, voter card, kisan passbook, driving license may also be used for the verification of beneficiaries.
