Kejriwal appeals to Modi to bring ordinance to stop sealing

New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring an ordinance to stop “sealing” in the national capital.

“The BJP has to pass an ordinance of only four lines in the Lok Sabha which will ensure that for the next five years, no shops, factories and houses would be sealed,” Kejriwal said.

He was addressing a gathering in west Delhi’s Matiala Vidhan Sabha constituency when he attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over sealing thousands of shops and factories in the last one year.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener said that even though the BJP controls the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), “it won’t stop the sealing drive”.

“BJP’s hooliganism has been going on for the past one year in the name of sealing. First they sealed thousands of shops, then factories and now I have received information that some houses have also received the notice,” Kejriwal said.

He said that just one four-line ordinance will give the government a chance to find an alternate solution to this “sealing problem” and people would also not be rendered jobless.

“For the last one year, the BJP has created chaos in the capital. People’s shops have been closed for 8-9 months and thousands of people have become unemployed. If it continues like this, millions of people in Delhi will be unemployed,” Kejriwal said.

The AAP leader said that if the BJP does not stop sealing even after a year of chaos, then it would only mean two things — first, they want to shut small businesses and bring in big companies like Walmart, and second, they are taking revenge on the people of Delhi for voting for AAP three years ago.

Targeting Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, Kejriwal said on one hand the BJP is running its sealing drive and on the other, “Manoj Tiwari does drama by breaking the seal of a house”.

“I challenge him to break the seals of all shops, factories and houses if he really sympathises with the people of Delhi,” he said.
