Lucknow: The Indian Cinema has recently crossed the milestone of 100 glorious years by entertaining the audiences worldwide. With this achievement, Bollywood is also going through a change with new film directors and low budget films carving a niche for themselves alongwith the big budget entertainers.  Small- budget films with  imaginative film scripts have performed superbly at the box office and are taking Indian cinema to the next level.

Earlier, it was believed that the audiences cuould be pulled to the theatres only by big- budget and top star casts. However after the success of low- budget movies like Queen, Wednesday and Udaan, the demand of such content driven flicks has increased manifold. This also exemplifies that the Indian audiences too have started to like meaningful scripts. In recent few years it is observed that the big budget movies are depending upon their big casting rather on their content, while the low-budget flicks have been delivering the excellent story material with amazing message to the audiences.

Some big budget movies like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Dhoom 3 and EK Tha Tiger performed brilliantly and entered the 100 crore club at the box office, however if you would have seen such movies then it reveals that the story line-up of such movies was not so strong but got good response due to big stars and after intense marketing campaigns. On the other side, low budget movies are currently delivering its attention on socio- based aspects of the country which attracts audiences to the theatres again and it somehow gives a strong message over the issues shown in their films.

Few actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan and Manoj Bajpayee had also started their careers with low- budget movies and received great appreciation for their work in some small-budget movies like Shool, Haasil and Wednesday. Bollywood top producers are also now showing keen interest in low-budget movies like Titli, Delhi Belly and Phas Gaye Re Obama.

It seems that the line between big and low budget movies will be erased in coming years which is in itself a new trend in the B-town.
