A British scientist has made a big claim about the coronavirus and said that the new variant of the coronavirus ‘Kent’ will spread throughout the world and this will lead to the world’s fight against the coronavirus for at least a decade. The head of Britain’s genetic surveillance program said that new variants of the coronavirus found in the Kent area of Britain were likely to spread worldwide, adding that the fight against the virus would last for at least a decade.

Sharon Peacock, director of the Covid-19 Genomics UK consortium, said in a media report that the Kent Coronavirus variant has spread across the UK and is likely to engulf the world.

The British scientist said that once we get to the top of the virus or it gets itself out of the virus-borne disease – then we can stop worrying about it. But I think in the future we are going to do the same for years. We will continue the fight against this virus for 10 years now.

There are so far 21 cases of that variant which has E484K mutation, which occurs on the spike protein of the virus, the same change as has been seen in the South African and Brazilian variants. The UK has proposed a fine of up to £ 10,000 (about Rs 10 lakh) and a prison term of up to 10 years for people coming from countries where coronavirus is most at risk of spreading. These rules also include a package of £ 1,750 for visitors from outside, which will have to be booked in advance and include a 10-day stay, commute, and mandatory two PCR test charges. All people coming from outside will have to stay in quarantine for 10 days. During this, they will have to undergo a PCR test on the second and eighth days of quarantine.
