Published

on

The premium smartphone segment in India has evolved lately and includes a bunch of new options in the sub-Rs 50,000 price segment. Generally, users in this price segment expect flagship-grade performance as well as cameras that can do well in any lighting condition. Some of the new additions in this price segment indeed promise enhanced camera performance riding high on Hasselblad or Zeiss partnerships. But there are a few more that guarantee a satisfying experience.

We have reviewed smartphones available around this price, and after all the in-depth analysis, we have come up with these five top options that you can consider under Rs 50,000. For gaming enthusiasts, there’s the Asus ROG Phone 5, which is on paper the most powerful smartphone under Rs 50,000.

So, without wasting any further time, let’s dive into the top five premium smartphones under Rs 50,000 you can buy in June 2021.

OnePlus 9

OnePlus 9 this year has been launched as the device that bridges the gap between the ultra-premium OnePlus 9 Pro and the affordable OnePlus 9R. It comes with some of the exact specifications, like the more premium 9 Pro, like the Snapdragon 888, 4500mAh battery, and runs on OxygenOS based on Android 11 out of the box. For cameras as well, the OnePlus 9 comes with Hasselblad branding, the same as the Pro model. The OnePlus 9 sports a 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 ultra-wide sensor, a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor coupled with dual-LED flash.

Our verdict: The OnePlus 9 starts at Rs 49,999 and offers features like 65W fast charging support, 120Hz display, and more flagship-grade specs. We can recommend this phone to anyone who’s not planning to spend above Rs 50,000 on a new device.

Vivo X60 Pro

The Vivo X60 Pro is the second recommendation on our list and comes with some decent under the hood prowess. However, the Vivo X60 Pro, compared to the OnePlus 9, isn’t as powerful. The X60 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor coupled with 12GB of RAM and comes with 256GB of storage. It features a 6.56-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display. For cameras, it comes with a 48-megapixel primary sensor along with two 13-megapixel sensors. A 4200mAh battery backs it with 33W fast charging support.

Our verdict: The Vivo X60 Pro is a great value product if we ignore some shortcomings like the UI with bloatware apps. The display on the phone is fantastic, and the cameras impress as well. Overall, the Vivo X60 Pro is a phone that we can recommend if you do not want to buy the OnePlus 9.

Asus ROG Phone 5

The Asus ROG Phone 5 is next on our list of best smartphones under Rs 50,000, and you should not doubt the prowess of this device. On paper, the Asus ROG Phone 5 is one of the most powerful smartphones in this category and one that’s ideal for gaming enthusiasts. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM/ 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It offers 128GB UFS 3.1 storage. The ROG Phone 5 features a 6.78-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display. It sports a 64-megapixel primary sensor along with a 13-megapixel secondary sensor and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. At the front, there’s a 24-megapixel selfie sensor. It packs a 6000mAh battery with fast charging support.

Our verdict: The Asus ROG Phone 5 is not for regular users and is a phone that’s aimed at hardcore gamers looking for uncompromised performance. It is slightly tough to recommend this phone to a general buyer, but if gaming is something that keeps you happy, then the Asus ROG Phone 5 could be your best companion.

Mi 11X Pro

The Mi 11X Pro is another capable smartphone under Rs 50,000 and is powered by a Snapdragon 888 processor. It features a 6.67-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. A 4250mAh battery backs it with 33W fast charging support. The handset offers a 108-megapixel primary camera, 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, 5-megapixel tele macro camera, and comes with a 20-megapixel selfie camera.

Our verdict: The Mi 11X Pro is again an excellent overall package that has a lot to offer. However, the software is one big factor that lets it down against some of its rivals.

OnePlus 8T

The OnePlus 8T may be an older device, but it is still one of the best value for money devices under Rs 50,000. The handset has received a price cut recently, dropping the prices to Rs 38,999 for the base model. It offers flagship-grade performance and packs a Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with 8GB / 12GB of RAM. It also comes in 128GB and 256GB storage models. It features a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with 1080×2400 pixels. The smartphone comes with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor along with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, 5-megapixel macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. The phone packs a 4500mAh battery and supports Warp Charge 65.

Our verdict: The OnePlus 8T is a complete package and offers a good enough experience with the design, display, cameras, and performance. If you want a good device at a stellar price, then the 8T is a good choice.
