The dangerous variant of Corona virus Delta has now entered 8 states including Maharashtra, Delhi, Kerala, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh. 50% of cases of this dangerous variant have been found. There is a lot of alertness in the central government regarding this and work has been started to stop it.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Friday wrote to the Chief Secretaries of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana directing them to step up measures to contain the spread of the Delta Plus variant. The central government has asked states to increase contact tracing.

Along with this, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has also expressed concern about this variant and said that the delta form first identified in India is the highest among all the forms of Kovid-19 identified so far. has been found to be infectious. In a press conference, he cautioned about the reach of the delta form in 85 countries and said that it has reached 11 countries in the last two weeks.

Covid toll in Karnataka is a worrying sign for state government

Even though Karnataka recorded the lowest number of Covid deaths in April since the virus struck first in 2020, the state is recording a rise in the positivity rate (1.50 per cent). Five people died from the Covid infections in April as per the statistics released by the state health department. In March, the positivity rate stood around 0.53 per cent. In the first week of April it came down to 0.38 per cent, second week registered 0.56 per cent, third week it rose to 0.79 per cent and by end of April the Covid positivity rate touched 1.19 per cent.
