Posh automaker Audi to launch two new e-vehicles in India next month
Posh automaker Audi India will soon introduce its first ever electric vehicle car in the country. As per sources, the new products are named as e-tron and e-tron sportback. The new products are expected to be launched before July 22. Pre-bookings for both models have already commenced for an initial booking price of Rs 5 lakh.
While the Audi e-tron combines the comfort of a luxury vehicle with a range suitable for everyday use, the Audi e-tron Sportback offers everyday utility and a distinct road presence through its Sportback silhouette. The Audi e-tron will rival the likes of Mercedes-Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace in India, and will be offered at around Rs 1.19 crore (ex-showroom, India).
The Audi e-tron, the first fully electric series-production model from the brand with the four rings, comes with a few signature Audi design cues, such as the octagonal-design single-frame grille with vertical struts presented in platinum gray, Matrix LED headlights with four horizontal struts, a wrap-around shoulder line that extends from the headlights, along the flanks, to the rear lights, giving the Audi e-tron a low visual center of gravity. The quattro blisters over the wheels hint at electric all-wheel drive. The sill area is contoured and receives black inserts on the door trim. The e-tron logo on the electric charging flap stands out, while the wheel arch trims and sills are in a contrasting color. The rear end has a long roof edge spoiler and wide diffuser to emphasize the electric SUV’s sporty character, whereas a light strip connects the LED rear lights.
Inside, the Audi e-tron greets the driver with the Audi virtual cockpit coupled to 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch MMI-touch response displays angled in the driver’s direction. When off, the upper one blends into the large black-panel surface, while the lower display is incorporated into the broad center console. In addition to operation by the two touch displays, the driver can activate a host of functions using natural language voice control. The Audi e-tron is 4,901mm long, 1,935mm wide, and 1,616mm high. With its long wheelbase of 2,928mm, the e-tron has ample space for five occupants along with their bags. The luggage capacity is 660-litre which can be expanded to 1,725-litre with the rear seatbacks folded down. The panoramic glass sunroof keeps the interior even lighter and intensifies the impression of airiness and space.
