Amid the decline in coronavirus COVID-19 cases, the National Testing AGency (NTA) is no longer in favour of postponing JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exams. According to sources, Union Ministry of Education is planning to hold JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exams between July and August. It is expected that the NTA would release the schedule of both JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exams within the next two to three days.

Sources in Ministry of Education said that the main reason for the delay in the programs of JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 related to admission in engineering and medical courses respectively was the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases across the country.

Ministry of Education officials said that it will not be appropriate to keep delaying the JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exams because there is a  possibility of a third wave of coronavirus too. The officials are of the view that July-August window is the most appropriate time to hold the JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exams.

If sources are to be believed, serious consultations are going on in the ministry regarding this. If Education Ministry officials reach an agreement over then dates then it will be announced in the next two to three days. It may be recalled that while postponing the entrance exams, the Ministry of Education had said that JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 would be conducted at any time on 15 days notice if the situation becomes conducive.

It is to be noted that since JEE Main and NEET exams are held for admission in graduate courses, it is possible that JEE Main 2021 and NEET 2021 entrance exams would be held after the declaration of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results and the results of internediate exams of other state boards.

It is to be noted that CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 were cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. The CBSE has now opted for a different marking system to finalise the CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 results. It is learnt that the CBSE will declare the Class 12 results on July 31.
