England fast bowler James Anderson completed 1000 wickets in first-class cricket on Monday. He achieved this feat during a county match while playing for Lancashire against Kent. Anderson, who turned 39 later this month, took seven wickets for 19 runs in his 262nd first-class match.

He took five wickets in the innings for the 51st time by catching Hino Kunh behind the wicket and completed his 1000 wickets in first-class cricket. Anderson is the 14th bowler and the fifth fast bowler to complete 1000 first-class wickets in this century. James Anderson, who is turning 39, can still beat a young player. Be it fitness or performance. Especially on English soil, James Anderson has no break.

Playing his first match of this season of county cricket, James Anderson bowled 10 overs, out of which no batsman has scored in five overs. At the same time, he spent only 19 runs in five overs. During this, he made seven batsmen of Kent’s team his victim. Before the five-match Test series against England, it is a big threat to the Indian team that James Anderson has caught the momentum.

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
