Yogi Govt to build 10,000 farm ponds at the cost of Rs 100 crore in Bundelkhand by 2022
Bundelkhand will no longer be thirsty, thanks to the Uttar Pradesh Government’s ongoing efforts to save water and also ensure its better management in the region.
The Yogi Government is trying diligently to ensure optimal use of every drop of water in the region through various projects, including sprinkler irrigation and Khet Talab Yojana.
It is worth mentioning here that the Yogi Government plans to build 10,000 farm ponds at the cost of Rs 100 crore in the current financial year (2021-22) while it has already dug out 4,400 farm ponds at a cost of Rs 49.56 crore so far as part of the ‘Other Intervention’ component of its ‘Per Drop More Crop’ scheme. Most of these ponds have been constructed in Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions.
Along with geo-tagging of these ponds, 50 percent subsidy is payable to the farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Water saved in these ponds during the rainy season will be used for irrigation purpose and as drinking water for the cattle in the rest of the seaons. In this context, the Yogi Government is working on three sprinkler projects, including Masgaon Chilli (Hamirpur), Kulpahar (Mahoba) and Shahzad (Lalitpur) projects, as a model to irrigate more area with less water. The projects are likely to be completed this year. There is also a plan to connect other irrigation projects with sprinklers later.
Arjun Sahayak Canal Project, which is going to be completed this year, will not only facilitate irrigation of 44,381 hectares of land in Banda, Hamirpur and Mahoba, but also make drinking water available to people.
According to an estimate, around 20 million cubic meters of drinking water will be available to the people of Mahoba.
Yogi Govt leaving no stone unturned to ensure availability of water to every farm
Uttar Pradesh in order to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogans such as ‘Per Drop, More Crop’ and ‘Water to Every Field’ since taking over four years ago. All the small and big projects related to irrigation bear testimony to this.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story
The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.
In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).
The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.
The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.
In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.
The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
