The increase in the number of admissions in pharmacy courses across the state, for degree and diploma courses, have gone up by nearly 25 percent in the academic year 2020-21 as compared to 2019-20, as the number of students enrolled in B Pharma courses have gone up from 16,000 to over 20,000.

Due to the high salary packages and the growth of the medical sector, even amid the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, the interest of students in B Pharm and D Pharm courses has increased. In addition, there has been almost 100 percent enrollment in D Pharm courses in the academic session 2020-21.

In the last two years, there has been a rapid rise in the number of B. Pharma institutions as well as students in the state. According to the AKTU spokesperson Ashish Mishra, in the last one and a half years, more than 50 B Pharma institutes have been affiliated to AKTU. Among them, the number of students has also increased.

According to Mishra, after completing B Pharma and D Pharma courses, one can provide services by becoming a consultant with any pharmaceutical company or be a hospital pharmacist or work as a clinical research associate. Apart from this, one can also start their own medical firm.

Almost 100 percent enrollment in D Pharma courses

There are a total 57,568 seats of D Pharma course in the state. According to the Department of Technical Education, admissions on as many as 56,291 seats were done in the session 2020-21. At the same time, as many as 20,361 students took admission in 25,351 seats available for the B Pharma course.

Admission to be done under NTA in B Pharma

At present, the fourth stage of the process of admission to engineering seats through JEE is going on. In the current session, the admission in B Pharm course will be done through the National Testing Agency. After the completion of the process of admission to B Tech, the admission procedure to the B Pharma course will start.
