The third Test between India and England is to be played at Headingley from August 25. Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series by winning the second Test. The first test was a draw. Virat Kohli’s team would like to retain Headingley’s record. The team has not lost here for 54 years. If Team India wins the third test, then the team will not lose the series. In the five-match series played in England in 2018, India were defeated by 1-4.

Talking about Headingle, Team India has played a total of 6 Tests here. The team has won 2 Tests, while it has lost in 3. There is a draw. But Team India has won the last two Tests played here and has not lost any Test since 1967. In the match played in 1986, the team defeated England by 279 runs. Then in the Test played in 2002, Team India registered a big win by an innings and 46 runs. The team did this feat under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly.

No player of the current team, including Team India’s captain Virat Kohli, has played a Test match at Headingley so far. In such a situation, the third Test match is going to be a challenge for all the players. Team India was also close to victory in the first Test played in Nottingham. But the last day’s play could not be played due to rain. With one more Test win, Virat Kohli will also become the Indian captain with the most number of Test wins in England.

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
