Force Motors India showcased the new-generation Force Gurkha at the Auto Expo 2020, and since then, the company has teased the off-road SUV on numerous occasions, hinting at its imminent launch. Although we would’ve seen the new Force Gurkha much earlier, the pandemic played a damper on the company’s plans. But now, the all-new Force Gurkha is all set for its market launch. Once launched, the new Force Gurkha will take on the Mahindra Thar in the market, as well as Maruti Suzuki Jimny, whenever the Indian carmaker decides to introduce it to our shores.

The new Force Gurkha will most likely be offered in a 3-door and a 5-door version, with several updates to its exterior and interior. Up front, the new Force Gurkha will feature a new pair of headlamps with LED treatment to it, with a new grille. The front bumper is new, while Force will retain the snorkel with the Gurkha, much like its predecessor. The turn indicators find place over the front fenders. At the back, the tail lamps are redesigned for a much more contemporary look, and these too could be with LED. The wheels come with a new design which adds to its profile. The spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, as earlier. The bulging wheel arches and claddings add to the go-anywhere looks of the new Gurkha. Completing the look are 16-inch alloy wheels shod with 245/70 tubeless tyres.

Inside, we expect Force Motors to completely revamp the cabin with slightly plush treatment to the dashboard, which could also play with a dual-tone healing. An all-black treatment is also on the charts. Force will offer the new Gurkha with a new touchscreen infotainment system, and replace the steering wheel with a new 3-spoke design. The remaining could be standard features which usually find place in this kind of off-road SUV.

The heart of the new Force Gurkha will most likely feature a BS6 2.6-litre diesel engine with 90bhp and 260Nm of peak torque, sending all that torque to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. Keeping up with its off-road credentials, the Force Gurkha will feature independent front suspension and a stiff rear axle to ensure the vehicle is capable of some serious wheeling.
