Delhi University Admission: 59,000 applications received on final day of first cut-off
On the last day of the final cut-off, Delhi University has received over 59,000 applications, with over 17,000 students paying the fees, as per the data shared by the university. The total number of applications stands at 59,525. Out of this 17,913 students have paid the fees and a total of 12,774 applications have been approved by the principals of various colleges
Highlights from different colleges
Manoj Khanna, principal of Ramjas College, has said that they have approved 400 admissions and had given time till 8:30 to students whose OBC certificates were not submitted, to students whose marksheets were either not submitted or were available on DigiLocker.
Khanna said for the B.Com programme, they have had applications from perfect scorers from the Kerala board and there have been a good number of admissions to B.Sc (Hons.) Physics, Mathematics (Hons.), B.Com (Hons.), History (Hons.), English (Hons.), and Political Science (Hons.).
“We will have to cancel the admissions if the students do not submit the documents or give an undertaking,” he said, as reported by PTI.
In Hindu College, more than 900 students have deposited the fees and nearly 700 applications were approved by the principal. For Political Science (Hons.), which has a cut-off of 100 percent, 109 students deposited the fees while 48 applications were approved by the principal. The course has 49 seats, of which 21 are for the general category. A majority of those who have applied are from the Kerala state board.
In total, more than 1,600 applications have been cleared against 956 seats, according to official data.
The principal of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) said that this year the rush is unprecedented. He added that being an off-campus college, DDU has never seen this kind of a rush
“I have been associated with the admission process at the college for the last 25 years. We have received 1,517 applications, of which 400 students have paid the fees, 600 admissions have been approved while 400 have been rejected. Nearly 100 applications are under process over issues related to certificates,” Jain said, as reported by PTI.
Similarly, the convener of Aryabhatta College said that they received a total of 708 applications, out of which 451 applications have been approved. For Political Science (Hons.), they have approved 117 admissions for 58 seats and BA Programme, they have approved 103 admissions.
“Nearly 60 per cent of the applicants are from southern boards like Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with high scores,” Dwivedi said, as reported by PTI.
At Miranda House, nearly 600 applications have been approved while at Hansraj College, 304 admissions have taken place to science courses and 225 to arts and commerce courses.
Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.
Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.
CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS
The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.
COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION
He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.
The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
