Shocking! Students assault teacher, put dustbin on head; probe ordered

A video showing a group of students misbehaving with a teacher and putting a dustbin on his head in Karnataka’s Davanagere district went viral on social media. A probe has now been ordered on the issue by the Education Ministry.

The video is purportedly from a government high school at Nallur in Channagiri town of Davanagere district. The incident took place on December 3.The video shows one of the students trying to assault the teacher with a dustbin. Later, a student puts the dustbin on the head of the teacher when he starts teaching in the class.

Reacting to the incident, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education BC Nagesh said in a tweet, “Assault on teacher by students at a school in Channagiri taluk of Davanagere district cannot be tolerated. Education Department and police probing the matter. Instructed to take appropriate action. We’ll always be with teachers.”

According to a report in Deccan Herald, the teacher said he saw gutka packets littered on the floor when he entered the classroom. He asked the students to maintain discipline. When he started teaching, some of them started creating a nuisance.

However, the teacher has decided not to lodge a complaint with police against the students considering their future.

As many as six new nursing colleges to be functional in Haryana soon

Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared that the construction work of six nursing colleges in the state will be completed soon and classes will commence in the month of July. Not only this, the new building of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Panchkula has also completed its construction work.

Adding on to this, he shared that, till now, the classes are being held in another building, the chief secretary said while presiding over the review meeting of development projects worth more than Rs 100 crore here.

CHIEF SECRETARY REVIEWED MAJOR PROJECTS

The Chief Secretary reviewed several major projects, including power, health, medical, and technical education in the state, and directed the concerned officials to complete them within the stipulated time period.

COLLEGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION

He said that the construction of nursing colleges in Dherdu village of Kaithal, Khedi Ram Nagar village of Kurukshetra, Kheranwali village of Panchkula, Aura and Dayalpur village of Faridabad, and Sadatpur village of Rewari is under construction.

The construction work of Medical college in Koriawas in Narnaul, Medical College at Jind, Bhiwani, and Dental College at Nalhar is being completed at a fast pace. The work of the second phase of Kalpana Chawla Medical College is also undergoing.
