Taming animals when it comes to eating food is a hard job. But sometimes what an animal swallows can really amuse us. Point in case, a cow accidentally swallowed a 20-gram gold chain in Karnataka and obviously, it was tragic for the owner.

This cow however is a pet of Srikanth Hegde and family living in Heepanahalli, Sirsi Taluk, Uttara Kannada district. They own a 4-year-old cow and a calf.

On the eve of Diwali, during the Gow Puja ceremony, the family bathed the cow and calf and performed puja. A cow in India is considered very sacred during this time. So naturally, cows are decked up in flower garlands. Some people also consider the cow as a form of ‘Lakshmi’, goddess of wealth so they end up adorning cows with gold jewellery and worship them as well.

The Hedge family was trying to do just that but all of it went sideways. The family adorned the calf with a 20-gram gold chain. After worshipping the animal, they removed the chain along with flower garlands and kept it aside.

However, after a while, all of it was missing. The family started looking for the chain all over. They searched the cowshed as well until the family got suspicious that the cow might have swallowed the chain. While they were away for a moment, the cow might have just swallowed the chain along with the flowers kept as offerings.

According to News18, for more than a month, the Hedge family religiously checked the cow and calf’s dung but were disappointed to not find anything. Finally, they took the cow to a veterinarian and after detection found out that the chain was stuck inside the stomach.

The family decided to get the cow operated on to get the chain. The chain now weighs 18 grams since a small bit of the chain remains missing. The family is relieved to get their gold chain back — but upset the animal had to go through all the ordeal. The cow is now said to be recovering from the surgery.

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
