Man in Gujarat booked for giving triple talaq on social media post
The Gujarat Police booked a 28-year-old man for allegedly giving his wife instant triple talaq through an Instagram post. The incident was reported in the Anand district of Gujarat.
The matter came to light after the woman approached police on Wednesday to file a complaint.
The 28-year-old man from Debar village in Mahisagar district had married a 27-year-old woman, a native of Umreth taluka in Anand district, in November 2019, a report said.
Police said there were conflicts between the couple, following which the woman was pushed out of her husband’s house. The woman then returned to her parent’s house and started living there, police were quoted by a report as saying.
Sub-inspector Chetansinh Rathod was quoted by The Indian Express report as saying, The husband had earlier also uttered triple talaq in July when the couple had a fight and the victim was forced to leave his house…”
The woman also told police that she was unaware of the law against triple talaq and therefore, did not file a complaint back then.
Police said the woman had created an account on social media to check on her husband’s activities.
“Recently, she wanted to check on her husband’s activity and created a social media account in a pseudo name. However, the husband found out that it was the wife behind that account and he pronounced the triple talaq again on social media,” Chetansinh Rathod was quoted as saying.
Following the incident, the woman informed her family and approached the police to file a complaint on Wednesday.
Chetansinh Rathod said police are investigating the matter and the husband is yet to be summoned.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story
The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.
In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).
The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.
The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.
Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.
In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.
The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
