Improved version of Maruti Suzuki WagonR launched in Indian market: Get details here
Maruti Suzuki has rolled out an updated WagonR that gets tweaked engines and cosmetic enhancements with prices starting from Rs 5.40 lakh (ex-showroom). There are new colour options that come in two-tone finishes with a blacked-out roof and alloy wheels too. The engines have been tweaked in line with new carbon emission norms to provide better fuel efficiency than before while reducing emissions.
In the top ZXI+ trim, the Gallant Red and Magma Grey colour options can be picked with a dual-tone treatment for a Rs 12,000 premium. WagonR can now also be had with alloy wheels (ZXI+ only). In terms of design, there are no changes compared to the outgoing version.
The interiors too see a bit of a change with the introduction of the dual-tone dark grey and beige upholstery. The features list remains unchanged. The 7-inch touchscreen display for the SmartPlay Studio infotainment suite remains and gets smartphone based navigation and 4-speakers for audio output, and now supports could-based services.
Safety for the WagonR has been improved with dual-front airbags now standard across the range as is the mandate. The car also benefits from ABS with EBD, speed alert system, rear parking sensors which are standard in all trims. In the Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) variants, the car is equipped with Hill-Hold assist.
The biggest update for the WagonR is the engine department. The DualJet Dual VVT engines are available in 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre displacements. The smaller one makes 67bhp and 89Nm while the bigger one makes 90bhp and 113Nm. The engines now feature idle start-stop (ISS) technology and cooled exhaust gas recirculation providing improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions over the outgoing model. A CNG fuel option is also offered with the 1.0-litre engine with a power and torque output of 57bhp and 82.1Nm. The larger 1.2-litre has been reserved for the ZXI and ZXI+ trims while the 1.0-litre petrol or CNG variants are offered in LXI and VXI trims. The engines are available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
Famed for its fuel efficiency, the 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR offers even more. The 1.0-litre motor delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.35kmpl to 25.40kmpl, while the 1.2-litre delivers 23.56kmpl for the manual and 24.43kmpl for the AMT variant. The 1.0-litre CNG has a claimed efficiency of 34.05km/kg to 34.73km/kg.
Prices for the new 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR start at Rs 5.40 lakh for the base LXI trim. The VXI with the 1.0-litre engine and AMT is priced at Rs 6.36 lakh, the ZXI with the 1.2-litre and AMT is priced at Rs 6.50 lakh and the ZXI+ AMT at Rs 6.98 lakh. The range-topping ZXI+ AMT with the dual-tone treatment costs Rs 7.10 lakh. The commercial-use Tour H3 trim is also on offer with the 1.0-litre engine priced at Rs 5.40 to 6.35 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
