Stage is set for the finals and this time it would be trans-Tasman rivals also the co-hosts Australia and New Zealand who will be combating for the Trophy.

Previously both teams hosted the World Cup was in 1992 and a team from the Sub continent i.e Pakistan won the trophy.

After six weeks since the tournament started 48 matches have been played among 14 teams. Kiwis have remained unbeaten, even though its on their own soil but the kangaroos look to have peaked at the right time.

Including the Australian treble 1999-2007, this is the 7th time Australia have entered the finals and before this they have won the trophy 4 times in the year 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007.

In the year 1975 and 1996 they were the runners up in the tournament. On the other hand Kiwi’s are planning to give a strong fight to the Aussies as they are in their best ever phase of cricket.

It would be home advantage for the Aussie team but New Zealand have many match winners in their side and have thrashed the Australian team in a close league encounter of the tournament.

Black caps are all eager to perform well under Skipper Brendon McCullum and opener Martin Guptill, it would be Kane Williamson, Grant Elliot to provide solid platform at the middle order.

With batsmen Ross Taylor and All-rounder Corey Anderson and wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi can prove to be the hitters and match winner on their day.

The Black Caps’ bowling trio of Tim Southee, Trent Boult and left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori have been key to their success and Kiwi’s would heavily rely on them.

David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steven Smith, Michael Clarke and veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Brad Haddin will have the responsibility to provide stability to the batting line-up. All-rounders Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner will add versatility to the team.

Australian team have fearsome quick bowlers with the likes of Left-arm seamers Johnson, Starc, Faulkner and right-armer Josh Hazlewood. Throughout the tournament they have proved that they  are difficult to score off and New Zealand batters will have to be at their best.

It would be an interesting match to watch and can prove to be a start of new era in cricket with Kiwi’s flying high.
