Messi and Ronaldo are at same level: Maradona
Munich: Argentine football legend Diego Maradona said the debate over which player is better out of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is flawed as the pair are equally matched.
The two best players in world football have again showcased their talismanic qualities this season with Messi netting 53 goals in all competitions for Barcelona and Ronaldo scoring one more for Real Madrid.
“It’s not the case that Messi is better than Ronaldo or Ronaldo is better than Messi. They are at the same level,” Maradona was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Monday.
As a result both players are often compared but Maradona says the argument is futile, but did point to the Portugal international’s greater threat from outside the box.
“Cristiano is a predator in front of goal. You can’t let Cristiano shoot from anywhere in the opposition half. Goalkeepers are scared of him. You have to be honest, goalkeepers are scared of Cristiano. They are not so scared of Messi in those areas because he doesn’t have the same power as Cristiano,” the 54-year-old said.
“Cristiano is an incredible professional. At this present time he is right up there at Messi’s level.”

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
