Kate Moss escorted by police from plane (18:41) London, June 8 (IANS) Police escorted supermodel Kate Moss from a plane when she arrived in Britain from Turkey because she had reportedly been "disruptive" on the flight. The 41-year-old supermodel was met by police when the flight she was travelling on from Bodrum, Turkey -- where she had been celebrating friend Sadie Frost's forthcoming 50th birthday -- arrived at Luton airport on Sunday afternoon. But she was not arrested and no formal complaints were made against her, reports femalefirst.co.uk. A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to assist staff in escorting a passenger from a flight arriving in Luton airport this afternoon. "The passenger had been reported as being disruptive on the flight. Officers attended and escorted the passenger from the plane. No formal complaints were made against her and she was not arrested." A spokesperson for the airline confirmed police had been called due to the "behaviour" of one of the passengers. They said: "EasyJet can confirm that police met flight EZY2232 from Bodrum to London, Luton today due to the behaviour of a passenger onboard. EasyJet does not tolerate disruptive behaviour and will always report any incidents to the authorities." A representative of the British model, who is married to rocker Jamie Hince and has a 12-year-old daughter, Lila, from a previous relationship, has yet to comment on the incident.

Dhaka: Bangladesh cricket team manager Khaled Mahmud has quit just ahead of the Test match against India starting Wednesday.

Sources in Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said Mahmud e-mailed his resignation on Sunday to BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury, citing “family reasons”, leading Bangladeshi daily Prothom Aalo reported.

Queriedabout this, BCB cricket operations committee chief Naimur Rahman denied any comment. However, he said the issue would be discussed with Mahmud.

Khaled Mahmud is also a former Bangladeshi cricketer. A medium pace bowler and middle-order batsman, he played international cricket from 1998 to 2006, captaining the team from 2003 to 2004.

The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.

Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.

Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”

Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
