Pietersen big gain for Zouks: Roberts
Castries (St. Lucia): Legendary West Indian fast bowler Andy Roberts believes the St. Lucia Zouks stand to gain from Kevin Pietersen’s England omission as he prepares to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Pietersen had been hoping for an international recall after last being selected for England during the 2013-14 Ashes Tour in Australia. However, his prospects of a comeback to the English team suffered a setback when new England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) director of cricket Andrew Strauss told him he would not play for England again this summer, as per reports.
“Once Kevin Pietersen comes to St. Lucia Zouks and prepares to play his part, I don’t think he’ll have a problem with anybody. He didn’t have any problems with any of us last year when he came for two matches. I found he helped and looked to help some of the youngsters. They had a few conversations with him and some have seen wisdom in what he’s said,” said Roberts.
Pietersen will represent the Zouks for the second time after turning out for St. Lucia in the latter stages of the Twenty20 competition last year. The third edition of CPL is set to take place from June 20 to July 26.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
