New Delhi: The market for Indian traditional wear has seen several changes over the years, says designer Archana Kochhar, whose latest line is MUAAK, a new pret couture collection of printed kurtas and anarkalis.

“Indian traditional wear has seen a great deal of experimentation with contemporary motifs, asymmetrical cuts, geometrical and free-flowing designs, which represent the changing taste of the modern and discerning Indian woman,” Kochhar said in a statement.

She describes her line as a “stylish range of ethnic wear”, and hopes it is “well-received by the chic Indian woman of today.”

The Mirror Maze work, inspired by the traditional wear of Rajasthan, is brought alive in earthy colours of orange, turmeric yellow, burnt maroon and black in Kochhar’s collection, which celebrates both femininity and Indian ethos.

It is replete with intricate hand embroidery and lively motifs in a variety of fabrics and myriad hues.

The line is available on flash website FashionAndYou.

“Ethnic wear has a huge customer base and MUAAK adds a new dimension of contemporary sophistication to traditional ethnic fashion. We are excited to bring to our patrons this latest collection,” said Aasheesh Mediratta, CEO, FashionAndYou.

The price range begins from Rs.5,999.
