PM wishes Team India for match against Australia
New Delhi :Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished success to the Indian cricket team, hours ahead of its crucial match against Australia in the World T20. He also praised its show against Pakistan and Bangladesh.
“The performance of India against Pakistan and Bangladesh was commendable. They have gained a momentum and I wish our team all the best for today’s match,” Modi said during his 18th edition of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast.
Modi also sought inputs of youths for hosting the Under-17 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be held next year.
“Many of you may not be aware that we are going to host the next U-17 FIFA World Cup. This world cup will offer us many opportunities to develop the necessary infrastructure for sports.
“But we can only do it if the youths are involved in it. I appeal to you to give your suggestions on how should we promote the world cup and how can we improve our facilities,” he said.
He said the suggestions can range from logos to anthems to souvenirs for the world cup.
The prime minister said football would be promoted across the country in the next one year to build momentum for the world cup.
Meanwhile, Modi advised students not to waste their summer vacation and instead learn some new skills.
“Will you allow your vacations to pass just like that? Don’t waste your vacation. If you don’t know swimming, learn it. If you are interested in painting but don’t know how to do it, learn it. We should work on improving our deficiencies during the vacation. It helps build confidence and improve the overall personality,” Modi said.
