Datsun Redi-Go set for launch, sharp ergonomics
Datsun will unveil its third car, Redi-Go for India on April 14, 2016. The car was showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. The company has decided to retain the same name for the production version.
Datsun has released a few sketches of the Redi-Go. Additionally, test mules of the car have been spotted over the last several months. It appears that the production version will look similar to the concept.
The Redi-Go will use Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A platform, which underpins the Renault Kwid. The car is also likely to use the Kwid’s 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine and 5-speed manual gearbox. A more powerful version of the Kwid with a 1.0-litre engine is expected to hit the markets soon. The Redi-Go could get this engine at a later stage as well.
Datsun is likely to position the Redi-Go below its Go hatchback. It will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and Renault Kwid in the A segment.
