EIB team inspects Lucknow Metro Project Site

A three member European Investment Bank (EIB) team – which is on a visit to Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC), today visited the project sites along with the Depot and the Casting Yard of Lucknow Metro Project.

Starting their visit this morning, the team members along with senior officers of Lucknow Metro, reviewed the progress of the project for the 8.5 km long ‘priority corridor’ from Transport Nagar to Charbagh. The EIB team also inspected the work going on for LMRC Depot and the LMRC Casting Yard near Amausi.

The EIB Team comprising Ms. Sunita Lakkhoo, Country Head – India, EIB; Mr. Piers Vickers, Dy. Economic Advisor, EIB and Mr. Venkat Rao Banaya, EIB, expressed their happiness on the satisfactory progress of the project so far and commended Shri Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, LMRC, and his team for fast execution of the project amid very tight deadline set by the Government.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) would soon be releasing the first tranche of loan amount approved for the LMRC project. The whole amount, however, would be released in multiple tranches during the course of the project as per the progress of work and requirement of Lucknow Metro.

Meanwhile, the Board of Directors of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) yesterday approved the name of M/s GULERMAK – Tata Projects Ltd. (TPL) Joint Venture (30%:70% JV) as the lowest eligible bidder for Contract LKCC: 06 “Design and Construction of Tunnel from start of underground ramp (near Charbagh Metro Station) to end of underground ramp near K. D. Singh Babu Stadium Metro Station including three underground Metro stations (viz. Hussainganj, Sachivalaya and Hazratganj) including Architectural finishes, E&M, TVS, ECS etc. on North –South corridor of Lucknow MRTS, Phase 1A Project at Lucknow”. M/s GULERMAK is a company from Turkey while M/s TPL is from India.

The Board of Directors has also approved allotment of equity shares of Rs 100 each for the Central and the State Government in the equity share capital of the company.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
