Union Water Resources minister meets Chief Minister

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that the state was committed to improving the conditions and cleaning up the rivers. With regards to this, he informed, the state government through its own resources has decided to clean and beautify Yamuna in Vrindavan, Varuna in Varanasi and Saryu in Ayodhya.

The Chief Minister said these at a meeting at his official residence on Sunday with the Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti. He also sought a prompt release of 4367.12 crore pending at the centre for irrigation and flood related projects and requested to get loan of 10,827.9 crore sanctioned from NABARD for under-construction irrigation projects.

During the meeting, also present was state’s irrigation and public works department (PWD) minister Mr. Shivpal Singh Yadav. The Chief Minister said it was the duty of people to hand over a clean environment to the coming generations. Yadav also assured the visiting minister of all possible cooperation in the efforts of the union Government in cleaning up of the river Ganga.

The Chief Minister also pointed out how the Gomti River Front Project was winning laurels globally. The consultant company of the project said in its presentation that the work done in nine-ten months was completed in Malaysia and Singapore in 3-4 years. Speed of construction of the diaphragm wall and the parallel drain construction was also a glorious example.

Akhilesh Yadav also said that Varuna, Yamuna and Saryu rivers would also have their riverfronts developed. While greenery would be the main focus in these projects, jogging and cycling tracks would also be established. He also informed that the Chief Secretary will preside over a meeting on Monday to work out the financial modalities of these projects.

The union minister was also asked to get the NoC for cleaning up of Ganga and Yamuna rivers on PPP model constructed sewage and affluent treatment plant. He also assured of all possible help in the initiatives takenby the union government to clean Ganges.

Shivpal Singh Yadav demanded relaxation of 3% loan sealing and extra loan from NABARD. He also requested that the pending funds for Saryu National Project, Baan Sagar, Arjun Sahayak, central Ganga and Kanhar projects. He also demanded immediate relase of 139 crore of the central share with regards to flood control projects.

What monkey fled with a bag containing evidence in it: Read full story

The court, generally, considers a person who commit a crime and the one who destroys the evidence, as criminals in the eyes of law. But what if an animal destroys the evidence of a crime committed by a human.

In a peculiar incident in Rajasthan, a monkey fled away with the evidence collected by the police in a murder case. The stolen evidence included the murder weapon (a blood-stained knife).

The incident came to light when the police appeared before the court and they had to provide the evidence in the hearing.

The hearing was about the crime which took place in September 2016, in which a person named Shashikant Sharma died at a primary health center under Chandwaji police station. After the body was found, the deceased’s relatives blocked the Jaipur-Delhi highway, demanding an inquiry into the matter.

Following the investigation, the police had arrested Rahul Kandera and Mohanlal Kandera, residents of Chandwaji in relation to the murder. But, when the time came to produce the evidence related to the case, it was found that the police had no evidence with them because a monkey had stolen it from them.

In the court, the police said that the knife, which was the primary evidence, was also taken by the monkey. The cops informed that the evidence of the case was kept in a bag, which was being taken to the court.

The evidence bag contained the knife and 15 other important evidences. However, due to the lack of space in the malkhana, a bag full of evidence was kept under a tree, which led to the incident.
