Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils
Fresh off a victory against table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils will be a confident team going up against Mumbai Indians, who have suffered two losses in as many games at Visakhapatnam, and are gearing up for their last home game at the venue on Sunday (May 15). Currently placed third in the points table, with six wins out of 10 games, a victory would further boost Daredevils’s bid to make it to the play-offs. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians’ recent reversals have left them in a dicey position with six wins out of 12 matches, and with only two games remaining for them, they need to win those to stand a chance of getting through to the next round.
Mumbai Indians’ batting has been a concern as they have suffered collapses in their last two games at Vizag that has not only hurt the momentum they previously had, but has also had an adverse bearing on the net run-rate, which at -0.44 is currently the second lowest among all teams in IPL 2016. Skittled out for 92 in a chase of 178 against Sunrisers and then being restricted to a below-par 124 for nine against Kings XI Punjab happened because the batsmen haven’t been able to show good application on pitches that have been on the slower side.
Although Rohit Sharma stressed after the defeat to Kings XI that the team isn’t solely reliant on him when it comes to batting, he did admit that the batsmen need be more responsible and believe in themselves. If they do that, it will not only be a big help to the Mumbai bowlers, who have been mostly on the mark, but also give a chance to the team to stay in the reckoning for the play-offs.
After suffering two back-to-back losses that slightly derailed their campaign, Delhi Daredevils came back strongly by registering a comfortable victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Too much of chopping and changing meant that Delhi did not get the desired results in a couple of games, and it would be interesting to see if their batting order undergoes another change. In the bowling department, too, there have been a few changes happening for Daredevils with each game, as they have stuck to the horses for courses policy.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
