Leaked pictures suggest all glass design for iPhone 7

Phone giant Apple is to make an iPhone made almost entirely out of glass, according to an industry leak. The company will drop the aluminium it is currently constructed out of revealed the firm which supplies most of the metal.

Many rumours suggest the phone set to be released later this year — likely the iPhone 7 — will appear very similar to the existing 6 and 6s.

But in 2017, the company is expected to completely redesign the model, bringing in new screen technologies and an entirely new look.

That rumour led to speculation the Taiwanese company which makes much of Apple’s metal casing would lose business.

But Allen Horng, CEO of Catcher Technology, said his company will still supply products — while apparently confirming that Apple will bring in the glass design.

“As far as I know, only one [iPhone] model will adopt glass casing next year,” Mr Horng said.
“I don’t think this move will have an impact on Catcher’s revenue as glass casing still needs a durable metal frame which requires advanced processing technology.”

Leaked iPhone 7 pictures suggest it will be 138.30×67.12×7.1mm with the iPhone 7 Plus measuring 158.22×77.94×7.3mm.

According to reports, the iPhone 7 will have a 3,100mAh battery, which is 12.5 per cent bigger than the iPhone 6S Plus.

But although your phone will stay powered longer, it could also mean the casing around it could be thicker. Earlier this month a Chinese site posted images of a gold handset, claiming they are the handset Apple is expected to reveal in September.

In January, Apple reported little growth in iPhone sales last quarter and an expected downturn in the current quarter.
