Lucknow :Ways to care for nails

What is a Nail ?

A nail is a horn-like envelope covering the tips of the fingers and toes in humans, most non-human primates, and a few other mammals. Nails are similar to claws in other animals. Fingernails and toenails are made of a tough protective protein called keratin. This protein is also found in the hooves and horns of different animals. It is made up of dead skin cells.

Nails can dry out, just like skin. They can also peel, break, and be infected. Toe infections, for instance, can be caused or exacerbated by dirty socks, specific types of aggressive exercise (long-distance running), tight footwear, and walking unprotected in an unclean environment. Common organisms causing nail infections include yeasts and moulds

.Getting your nails done is one of life’s simple pleasures but it’s easy to get confused when you’re at the manicurist. And the biggest cause of this concerns your cuticles, the thin layer of dead tissue that grows out on the nail plate to form a seal between your nails and skin to prevent bacteria from entering. What’s the best way to look after them?

So these are few simple steps to care of your Nails :

Steps :

1.Clean your hands (and wrists) with soap and warm water

This will prevent the build up of bacteria on your hands and may prevent dirt under your nails getting worse.

2.Use a clean nail brush to clean under your nails.

Make sure it is clean, because otherwise you may be transferring dirt and skin cells back under your nails.

3.Wash off all the soap and dry your hands on a clean, soft towel.
4.While your nails are soft, trim them
The more often you trim them (before they get too long), the stronger they will grow out to be.
5.Use a nail file (only use in one direction).
6.Use a hand lotion/cream
Don’t worry if you can’t though, because your body will usually provide natural moisture for your hands
7.Use cuticle oil
It strengthens your nails and helps you push back those cuticles!
8.Do this routine every day
But only cut your nails when necessary, otherwise your nails will be too short). Also remember to be careful with your hands.
TIPS :
  • Massage your nails daily with olive oil or any type of oil that benefits your nails like almond oil, coconut oil etc.
  • Always do this after you have ridden a bike, gone rock climbing etc. (Anything rough on your hands)
  • If you apply a nail strengthener it will protect your nails and also give them a glossy shine!
  • Do the same with your feet, as they support your weight all day, and get tired out too.
  • If you play a musical instrument, make sure your nails aren’t too long, as it may make it difficult to play.
  • If your nails are all different lengths then cut them all really short and let them grow together-if they start growing differently then cut the big ones until they are the same as the others.
