Countdown for Mission 2019 has begun: Delhi BJP chief
New Delhi, Jan 16 (IANS) The BJP’s Delhi unit on Tuesday said it had launched the partys Mission 2019 by highlighting what he called the misgovernance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the national capital.
“The party’s Executive meeting should be treated as the beginning of the countdown to the 2019 general elections,” Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Manoj Tiwari told reporters here after the two-day meeting.
“We will move across the city to highlight the AAP government’s misgovernance,” he said.
Tiwari, who represents the northeast constituency of Delhi in the Lok Sabha, also attacked the Delhi government for “not fulfilling its poll promises”.
“The Arvind Kejriwal government came to power by promising to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi. But today, residents of these colonies feel cheated as the government has not done one work to benefit them,” he alleged.
“The BJP will strive to provide all amenities to unauthorised colonies here and, if needed, will petition the Centre to amend the Constitution accordingly,” he said.
Tiwari also urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for central funds for the development of unauthorised colonies.
Slamming the AAP government for its alleged failure to notify 351 roads, he said: “Even after completing three years in power, the Kejriwal government has asked for more time for the purpose.
Tiwari said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was unable to fulfil even one per cent of the 70 promises his paty made to the people of Delhi during the assembly elections.
The BJP leader attacked the city government over the death of 225 homeless people in one-and-a-half months.
“Over 225 homeless people have died but the government has remained mute,” he said.
Tiwari said that the Delhi people voted Kejriwal for good governance and development but got in return a government that functions on Twitter and publishes false advertisements.
The BJP leader highlighted depleting number of Delhi Transport Corporation buses, functioning of Delhi Jal Board, and alleged delay in work on Delhi Metro Corporation’s third and fourth phases.
