New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS) Tata Motors will put on display its new H5 5-7 seater SUV car based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport model at the Auto Expo beginning in nearby Greater Noida on Wednesday.

Tata Motors Managing Director and CEO Guenter Butschek told the media here on Tuesday that the pre-production versions of its new hatchback model X451 will also be on display at the auto show.

Talking about mobility solutions for the future in the backdrop of the government’s plans to have electric vehicles on the roads by 2030, he said there was a need for single-minded focus and a clear picture on the issue from the government and the entire automotive industry if it was to be achieved.

Among the key enablers will be incentivisation and encouragement to the private sector for faster development of infrastructure, stricter regulation and effective monitoring to curb non-adherence.

“By 2025, if we have a 25 per cent registration of electric vehicles, we would have done a splendid job,” Butschek said in reply to a question.

The government has set a target of electrification of 100 per cent commercial vehicles and 40 per cent of passenger vehicles by the year 2030.

He also said there should be a level playing field for the Indian industry in the matter of BS VI norms, whose implementation date has been advanced. Foreign manufacturers, who have already adopted the new norms, were at an advantage, he felt.

To a question on the procurement by state-run Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) of 10,000 electric vehicles from Tata Motors, he said the first phase delivery of 500 vehicles would be completed this month and the rest later.
