Happy with the group of players I have: Morgan
Sydney: England ODI captain Eoin Morgan today said thathe is very happy with the group of players he is having and there is no way back for controversial batsman Kevin Pietersen.
Pietersen had claimed that Morgan wanted him back in the England side when he spoke to former Australian captain Ricky Ponting during a Big Bash.
“I think this is a good opportunity to clear things up given that Kevin has had a lot of opportunity to talk in the media and get his view out there,” Morgan was quoted as saying by dailymail.co.uk.
“I’m very happy with the group of players I have.”
“I think this is the best group of players we have to drive the England team forward over the next two months in particular. Kevin’s situation hasn’t changed over the last year. It’s been reiterated over months and days,” said the Irish-born batsman, who took over from Alastair Cook in December.
“It was reiterated by the chairman of selectors before Christmas and I’m reiterating it again just to clear it up. Thank you.”
Pietersen’s international career came to an end last February as the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) sought to rebuild England’s “team ethic”.
England take on Australia in the first match of the tri-series, also involving India, here Friday.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
