New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) The BJP on Wednesday refuted allegations of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu that it had betrayed the people of the state, saying the habit of betrayal was not in its DNA.

“In democracy, the parties are free to take their own call but the BJP is not in habbit of ditching friends. It’s not in our DNA. We love people of Andhra Pradesh,” Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, flanked by party MPs K. Haribabu and G.V.L Narasimha Rao, said at a press conference here.

He termed Naidu’s allegations as politically motivated.

“The allegations labelled are false and we refute it. They (Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party) will realise their mistake. For God’s sack don’t do politics on development. We do not do politics on issues of development. Our motto is ‘sabka sath sabka vikas’,” he said.

Addressing reporters immediately after Naidu accused the BJP-led NDA government of betraying the people on the Centre’s promise of giving special status to the bifurcated state, Javadekar came with details of the projects being carried out in the state.

“Our commitment for Andhra Pradesh is firm. We will fast track these development projects,” he said charting out details of various projects being carried out in the state.

He said that it pained him a lot when the Chief Minister said that the TDP suffered loss of atleast 15 seats due to its alliance with BJP.

“Those who are aware with Andhra politics, they know it better,” he said adding that this was not the way to enter into political blame game.

On charges of aligning with YSR Congress, the BJP leader said that it was “ridiculous”.

“You fought against Congress and now you are meeting with Congress leaders,” he said and added that he was pained by the fallout.

The BJP’s attack comes after Naidu met several opposition leaders on Tuesday in Delhi and accused the ruling party at the centre of playing with emotions of five crore people of Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu, days after the TDP pulled out of the NDA over the government’s failure to give the special status category to Andhra Pradesh, said the government kept telling him that that they were not going to give special status to the state because of the 14th Finance Commission.
