Loretta Lynn resting at home after hospital stay
Los Angeles, Oct 21 (IANS) A record label spokesperson for singer Loretta Lynn has issued a statement on her behalf, in which the country star says she had “a brief hospital visit” but is now “enjoying a weekend of resting up at home”.
Lynn’s representative also said: “Please note, Michael Lynn is not a known relative and does not speak on behalf of Loretta Lynn or her family.”
A social media account claiming to belong to a relative named Michael Lynn had set off alarms about Loretta Lynn’s condition earlier Saturday, claiming she was “back in the hospital with some serious issues”.
Lynn’s statement, as relayed through a Sony Music publicist: “I’ve watched the CMT show (“CMT Artists of the Year”. on which Lynn was honoured as Artist of a Lifetime Wednesday) more than once now and am so proud of the amazing job all the girls did! I especially appreciated my sweet friend, Sissy (Spacek), and thought she just made the show!
“I can’t thank everyone enough for the kind words and this amazing award from CMT. I was so disappointed to have missed it because I was sick. After a brief hospital visit, I’m feeling better now and enjoying a weekend of resting up at home… Love you all, Loretta.”
The original, alarmist post claiming to be from family member Michael Lynn is being called a fake by family members and has been removed from Facebook.
The 86-year-old singer has suffered several medical setbacks in recent months. In May of last year, after she completed work on her latest album, “Would not It Be Great”, she suffered a stroke, and earlier this year she broke her hip.
Earlier this week, when Lynn missed the 2018 CMT Artists Of The Year ceremony, she wrote in a social media post, “Well you all, leave it to me to go and get sick on the very night all my friends are getting together to honour me at the CMT Award Show as their Artist of a Lifetime.
“I can’t believe that I’m not going to be there tonight in person, but I am watching and I am there in spirit!”
