New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS) The Delhi government on Monday launched a common mobility card with a tagline of ‘One Delhi One Ride’ which would enable city commuters to access Metro and bus services with a single card at a 10 per cent discount.

Known as ‘One’, the newly designed card will be available for sale on all Delhi Metro stations and DTC pass counters from Tuesday.

“The existing Metro smartcards will continue to stay valid but any new card or replacement will be through ‘ONE’ card,” Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said during the launch of the card at Rajghat bus depot here.

The process of recharging these cards at metro stations will also remain the same with Rs 200 as the minimum recharge value and Rs 50 as the security fee on the card, an official from the transport department said, adding that only the basic design has been changed.

Gahlot, meanwhile, said his department is also considering extending the usage of the ‘ONE’ card to other modes of transport.

“The commuters should be able to travel from home to office on a single card and hence, we are considering coverage of auto-rickshaws, taxis, RTVs and other modes of transport under this card,” he said while talking to the reporters.

The card was launched in the presence of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh, Commissioner of Transport Varsha Joshi, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Managing Director Manoj Kumar, Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDC) vice-chairperson Jasmin Shah and other senior officials of the Transport Department.

The newly designed cards will have a background of cubic grid in bright shades of red and yellow. It will also have a circular unit with sketches of Metro trains, DTC buses, auto rickshaws and Delhi’s monuments around it. It will now carry the logos of all three transport operators in the city – DMRC, DTC and the Delhi Government.

Gahlot said that initially, the card had some issues with the Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) in DTC buses and hence, “we were unable to roll it out early but after regular meetings and discussions, we have overcome those issues”.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister also said the Delhi government will soon be launching a common application through which commuters can plan multi-modal trips including buses and metro from and to any point in the city.

“Commuters will also be able to see live locations of Delhi buses through that application,” Gahlot said.
