‘Kedarnath’ garners Rs 7.25 cr on opening day (Movie Snippets)
Mumbai, Dec 8 (IANS) Actress Sara Ali Khan’s maiden film “Kedarnath” has garnered Rs 7.25 crore on its opening day, according to its makers.
The Abhishek Kapoor directorial, which also features Sushant Singh Rajput, released on Friday.
“‘Kedarnath’ has opened on a positive note. The film has gone ahead to garner Rs 7.25 crore at the box office on day 1,” read a statement issued on behalf of the makers.
Sara’s performance has been lauded by the audience and critics alike.
According to a film trade analyst, “Kedarnath” has taken a “healthy start”.
“Business picked up during the course of the day (Friday). Saturday and Sunday business (is) crucial,” he tweeted.
The film, produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Abhishek Kapoor’s Guy In the Sky Pictures, tells the love story of a ‘pithoo’ and a pilgrim amidst the wrath of nature as the holy place drowns in flood. However, love rises above all.
It is set in the backdrop of the flash floods that wrecked the temple town in June 2013.

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh likes reality TV personality and make-up mogul Kylie Jenner, and says there are no limits when it comes to liking someone.
The actor expressed his admiration for Kylie in an episode of “Koffee with Karan” season 6, read a statement.
When filmmaker and host Karan Johar pointed out that Diljit even proposed to her on social media, the singer-actor said: “I wrote it in Punjabi so she wouldn’t know what I am saying. I don’t want to embarrass a girl.”
And when Karan asked Diljit: “What is this? Is this love? Is this devotion?”
“When you like someone, just like we all do, I like her. I think there is no limit to how much you can like someone,” he said.
The show is aired on Star World, and the episode will air on Sunday.

‘Badhaai Ho’ is special for many reasons: Director
“Badhaai Ho” Amit Ravindernath Sharma says he feels blessed to get all the love and appreciation for the film.
The film, Chrome Pictures’ first production, has been embraced by the audience for its sensitive handling of a subject not often talked about in cinema, as well as for its gripping dialogues, entertaining screenplay and endearing performances by Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra as well as veterans like Surekha Sikri, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao.
“‘Badhaai Ho’ is special for many reasons. It is the first feature from Chrome Pictures, and also the first from an ad production house to cross the Rs 200 crore mark and run in theatres for over 50 days,” Sharma said in a statement.
“I feel blessed with all the love and warmth the viewers have expressed,” he added.
