Time for ‘Ache Din’ in Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party

AAP has been voted into power by the Delhi people and it was few days back when Arvind Kejriwal took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi promising many favors to the people. It seems as if Delhites might get some benefits in return of the votes they casted to make AAP win by majority and form government to help the people of Delhi.

In a major decision taken in the cabinet of Delhi ministers, Deputy Chief Minster announced two key developments i.e AAP halved the power tariff for up to 400 units per month and second was the supply of 20,000 litres of water free to Delhi’s metered households from March 1.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia talking to media stated that cut in electricity rates through subsidy will benefit over 36 lakh families comprising of 90 percent of the domestic consumers and on the other hand- the free water will be provided to all the 18 lakh metered households in the capital.

It looks as if Aam Aadmi Party is working effectively to fulfill the promises they showcased during the poll campaign. The amount of cost that would be used to fulfill promises has to be managed and taken into consideration. The only crucial factor is the effective management of the funds while keeping in mind the promises made to the people.

Initiating the proceedings is a good sign but implementing them on larger scale is the point to be taken care of. AAP have given a fine depiction of the work they can do, but for how long? This is the question that is in the minds of the people.

After cabinet meeting, Deputy CM stated that power subsidy would cost the exchequer Rs.1,427 crore annually, while the free water would cost of Rs.250 crore. A consumer will have to pay Rs.2 per unit for up to 200 units a month, in comparison to the Rs.4 per unit at present, which has a subsidy of Rs.1.20 per unit.
