Science March organised on National Science Day in Lucknow

Lucknow: Today on the occasion of National Science Day Celebrations a huge SCIENCE MARCH was organized in which 570 students, teachers, science communicators, NGOs representatives participated enthusiastically. The Science March was moved in the Aliganj locality by reciting the slogans based on the science & technology. The Science March was flagged off at 9:00 AM by Dr. M.K.J. Siddiqui, Director, Council of Science & Technology, UP Govt., Dr. P.K. Seth, CEO, Biotech Park, Lucknow and Dr. Anand Prakash Rai, Director, Geological Survey of India, Lucknow.

During the flagging off ceremony of Science March at Regional Science City Dr. Siddiqui told that National Science Day should not be observed only as celebration but this day should be celebrated as important day and Slogans which are used in the rally should be adopted in our life too. Only the scientific temperament in our life may lead the country forward and help in building nation. He felt that due to present institutions many Nobel Prize winners may come up soon and our new generation is capable to do so. Dr P. K. Seth in his address told the students about the importance of the National Science Day celebration and he encouraged the students to take interest in science & technology. Dr. Anand Prakash Rai discussed about the Science for Nation building and Energy Resources for building the nation.

On the occasion of this special day at Regional Science City, Lucknow a bus on the Telemedicine facility was called from Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences for demonstration and students were informed about the benefit of this Telemedicine facility bus. Through this facility the people of Uttar Pradesh can take the benefit of prosperous technology and services of many renowned Science communicators and doctors available in the cities even though they are far away. They experienced live the facility. The theme is ‘Sahar Ka Doctor, Apke Ghar.

Before the valediction ceremony of the programme Dr S. K. Mishra, Professor & Head Dept. of Endocrine Surgery Nodal Officer, NRC for Telemedicine, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow gave his popular talk on the topic “Application of Information & Communication Technology in Healthcare” to the present students, teachers and science communicators. In the last Dr. Mishra distributed the prizes to the winners of all contests held during the span of 3 days of National Science Day celebration.

Shri Umesh Kumar, Project Coordinator, Regional Science City, Lucknow informed that this year National Science Day celebrations was organized at Regional Science City, Lucknow in association with Biotech Park, Indian Science & Communication Society (ISCOS), Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Local Chapter, Association of Chemistry Teachers for Society and Alyss Education Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow from 26th February, 2015 which was concluded today. During the celebrations various educational competitions were organized on different topics of science for benefit & Science for Nation building for school students. In all about 1500 students and teachers, science communicators participated in the entire programmes held during the National Science Day Celebrations at Regional Science City and programme was a grand success.

Dr. Abhishek Verma Dedicates a Shelter in Memory of His Mother, Veena Verma, at KGMU; Inaugurated by Daughter Nicolle Verma

World-renowned business tycoon Dr. Abhishek Verma has supported Foodman Vishal Singh’s Hunger-Free World mission. In memory of his mother, Late Veena Verma, who was a 3 term Rajya Sabha MP.

Dr. Verma dedicated a state-of-the-art free permanent shelter for the attendants of patients at KGMU Medical University, Lucknow, under the aegis of Vijay Shree Foundation. His daughter, Nicolle Verma, inaugurated the shelter.

During the event, Foodman Vishal Singh honored Nicolle Verma by presenting her with a memento. Mrs. Nidhi Sharma and Avantika Yadav, associated with the organization, welcomed her with garlands. Following this, Nicolle Verma distributed essential items to the attendants and also handed out fruits. She became emotional remembering her grandmother on her birth anniversary.

On this occasion, she also inaugurated the “Veena Verma Sevalaya” in memory of her grandmother, Veena Verma, to serve the attendants. She expressed, “I feel proud that my family is engaged in nation-building as well as social service. Today, in collaboration with Vijay Shree Foundation founder Foodman Vishal Singh Ji, I feel immensely proud to dedicate this shelter for the poor, helpless, and needy attendants of patients battling serious illnesses like cancer. I am honored to be associated with the Hunger-Free World Mission for humanity.”

Inspired by the continuous humanitarian service provided by Vijay Shree Foundation over the past 17 years, Nicolle Verma donated 10 lakh rupees to support the cause. The purpose of this donation is to ensure that services continue for the needy attendants of patients suffering from severe illnesses in hospitals, as facilitated by Foodman Vishal Singh.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Abhishek Verma’s family has a legacy of public and philanthropic service. They are helping millions to carry forward the values and service work of their parents. On the occasion of his mother’s birth anniversary, Dr. Abhishek Verma dedicated this state-of-the-art permanent shelter at Lucknow Medical College to serve the attendants of patients through the Vijay Shree Foundation.

Supporting Foodman Vishal Singh’s Hunger-Free World mission, Dr. Abhishek Verma assured that he would continually support keeping this flame of humanity alive. He also promised to assist in providing medicines to the helpless patients.

Continuing her grandmother’s legacy of service, Nicolle Verma personally served food to the needy patients and attendants. She said, “It is our good fortune to have received the joy of doing this noble work today through Foodman Vishal Singh. I have taken another step forward in carrying my family’s values and cooperation by joining hands with the Vijay Shree Foundation. My father taught me to serve and help the needy, and I feel happy when I bring a smile to someone’s face.”

On the birth anniversary of the late Veena Verma, the event organizer, Vijay Shree Foundation founder Foodman Vishal Singh, said, “We feel proud and happy that Dr. Abhishek Verma, a globally renowned business tycoon, has extended his support to uplift our country from the hunger index. Today, on his mother’s birth anniversary, he inaugurated a state-of-the-art permanent shelter at Lucknow Medical College, which will always be helpful for the needy attendants of patients.
