Schalke agrees on permanent deal with loanee Matija Nastasic
Berlin: Schalke and Manchester City have agreed on the permanent transfer of on-loan defender Matija Nastasic, both sides announced in an official statement.
After strong performances in the dress of the “Royal Blues”, the 21-year-old defender was equipped with a four-year contract, which keeps him at Schalke until June 2019, reported. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
“I am proud and happy to stay at Schalke. From day one I was immediately part of the team. I would like to help the team and the club to achieve our goals,” Schalke’s defender Nastasic told the club’s official homepage.
The Serbian international joined Schalke in January 2015 after three years at Premier League side Manchester City, where he scored one goal in 34 appearances. After his arrival in Schalke he made seven appearances in the Bundesliga and two in the UEFA Champions League to date. Nastasic made overall 15 caps for Serbia’s national squad.
Schalke currently are on the fifth place of the Bundesliga standings. They face struggling side Hertha Berlin at the 25th round on Saturday.

Sunil Gavaskar gives his opinion of GT allrounder Rahul Tewatia
The left-handed batsman from Haryana is garnering praise from all quarters for the way he’s finishing games regularly in the most exciting IPL season.
Gavaskar reckons Tewatia’s whirlwind knock in Sharjah (in IPL 2020) where he smashed West Indies pacer Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over, gave him the confidence that he belongs to the big stage.
Speaking on Cricket Live on Star Sports, Gavaskar said, “That assault on Sheldon Cottrell in Sharjah gave him the belief to do the impossible and the confidence that he belongs here. We saw the impossible (he did with the bat) the other day as well. There’s no twitching or touching the pads (which shows a batter’s nervousness) when he bats in the death overs. He just waits for the ball to be delivered and plays his shots. He’s got all the shots in the book, but most importantly his temperament to stay cool in a crisis is brilliant.”
Gavaskar has also nicknamed the 28-year-old cricketer the ‘ice-man’ and lauded Tewatia’s ability to remain unruffled during the tense moments.
