The substantial increase in the covid cases among several states including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Kerala due to the second wave of the virus, is not to bees reaching its end, and these big states are daily recording more than 20,000 cases. Uttar Pradesh despite being the most densely populated state in the country, only recorded 1,908 cases in the last 24 hours registering a decline of 95 percent from its peak, Yogi Adityanath’s government made this impossible task possible before any of the state.

Signalling control over the deadly virus, the figure for fresh Covid-19 infections for Uttar Pradesh for the first time dropped below two thousand on Saturday in nearly the last two months.

With reduction in fresh Covid-19 cases and a fall in the transmission rate, Uttar Pradesh also recorded a sharp slide in the number of active covid cases to 41,214 since its peak on April 30. The cases have reduced by a remarkable 87 percent in the span of the last thirty days.

On the contrary, states like Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu despite being not even half of the population of Uttar Pradesh have a heavy load of Active Covid Cases that stands at 2,76,573, 2,33,034 and 3,12,386, respectively.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours in Uttar Pradesh stood at 6,713, pushing the state’s Recovery Rate to a whopping 96.4 per cent.

The ‘Yogi Model’ of Test-Trace-Treat testifying its success in curbing the spread of coronavirus resulted in the fall of Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of Uttar Pradesh to 0.5 percent, the lowest so far. The TPR has been maintained below 1 percent for five straight days now.

While, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra with high number of fresh cases have miserably failed to show any reduction in their Daily Test Positivity Rate that stands at 19%, 16.4% and 16.51%, respectively.

A widely deployed and efficient testing strategy has helped in limiting the spread of new cases as it significantly reduces the chance of individuals with undetected virus exposure from roaming freely among unexposed individuals.

As a part of its Aggressive Testing T3 Regime, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday conducted as many as 3,40,096 COVID tests, out of which, 1,42,751 were RT-PCR examinations adding up to the number of total tests conducted so far that stands at 4,90,96,625.

In an encouraging sign, the number of patients in home isolation in the state has also been reduced to 23,419. This is a result of timely provision of free medical treatment, medicine kits and regular teleconsultation as per the directions issued by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Swift measures, alertness and bold decisions coupled with border restrictions , presence of medical resources and planned short-term partial corona curfews have resulted in limiting the outbreak in Uttar Pradesh, whereas, states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala even with complete lockdown have not been able to limit the number of fresh Covid cases.
